RULES AND REGULATIONS

Ø        Entries should be made to the superintendent of that department.  Read all departments for their requirements and entry times.  Friday, September 12, all exhibits will open at 4:00 p.m.  Children who are 4-H members must exhibit in 4-H building.  Children who are not 4-H members may exhibit in open classes.

Ø        Premiums will not be paid on animals or articles removed from the Fair before its close UNLESS special approval of the superintendent of the department has been given.

Ø        The exhibition building will be open September 13, for arrangements of exhibits, and all reasonable care will be taken of articles on exhibition.  Police officials will be on duty day and night, but the Association does not hold itself responsible for the safety of animals or articles exhibited or for any damage or loss thereto.

Ø        All stock and other articles must be entered in the name of the owner, and dairy products, fruits, grain, vegetables and domestic manufactured must have been made or raised by the exhibitors thereof.  Descriptive labels, in accordance with the entries, can be secured from the superintendents, who shall attach them to the articles and allow them to remain during the Fair.

Ø        No exhibitor shall compete against himself either directly or indirectly, and any person entering borrowed animals, articles, vegetables or other products, or making fraudulent representations in reference to any exhibit will forfeit all premiums which may have been awarded.  The Association also reserves the right to accept or reject any entry made for any premium offered and no premium will be paid unless all requirements are fulfilled.  The Danish (Group) system is used in judging most events and exhibits at the Rochester Fair.  Efforts of the participant are judged against standards, not against another participant.  There may be several ribbons of a particular color in a class, or none.  Each exhibitor is judged on her/his own merit and awarded a ribbon based on performance.  The top selection of a group may be given special recognition (i.e. Best of Show, Special, etc.).

Ø        Premiums earned in all departments will be paid by check and those checks will be mailed to the exhibitor no later than the third Friday in November of the current year.  Any check not cashed within 60 days of issue date will be considered a donation to the Fair Association.

Ø        The Association will employ a watchman on the grounds at night and exercise due care, but they will assume no responsibility for any loss or damage from any cause that may occur to any animal or article on exhibition, and upon this condition only are entries received.

Ø        The Fair Association assumes no responsibility for injuries caused by any animal during the Fair.

Ø        Rochester Fair Association assumes no responsibility for errors in the printing of this handbook.
